Feeling stressed out?

You’re not the only one. Hundreds of thousands of Americans suffer from stress every single day. If you allow it to go on for too long or worsen, you risk the stress leading to other various health conditions. From aches, pains and muscle tension, to anxiety, depression, and more, untreated stress can have many negative repercussions. To help you manage your stress, if even for the time being, we’ve gathered some of our favourite and most effective stress-relieving activities that you can do from home.

Keep reading to explore our five simple steps to relieving your stress right now!

1. SOAK IN YOUR SPA

Hot tubs and swim spas are good for so much more than just a fun and relaxing way to spend your time. Soaking in a spa regularly can lead to many amazing health benefits. One of those health benefits is, you guessed it, stress relief!

When you relax in your hot tub or swim spa, the heat of the water improves your circulation and the natural production of stress-relieving endorphins. This feeling of relaxation and stress relief can last long after you’ve exited the heat of the jet-driven water.

Not only that, but the experience that you have mentally inside your spa is more than enough to help you relax and let go of built-up tension, resulting in a positive experience physically, too. You can take this time to reflect on your week, read a book, listen to some music, or do absolutely nothing at all.

2. PRACTICE SELF-CARE

Often, we find ourselves feeling stressed when we are under lots of pressure. Responsibilities and out-of-control to-do lists can really send feelings of stress and anxiety through the roof. Through all of these daily tasks, it’s important that you make yourself just as much of a priority.

This is commonly referred to as “self-care”. There is no right or wrong way to practice self-care. All that matters is that you are setting some time aside out of your day to care for yourself.

Think about it: what makes you happy? Is it taking a bath with some scented candles and a bath bomb? Or maybe doing some yoga in the backyard while listening to soothing music? Hey, maybe self-care is soaking your feet in warm water and Epsom salts while you catch up on your favorite show and snack on a chocolate bar – we don’t judge!

Whatever your preference is, a happy you is a stress-free you, so go for it! You are worth it.

3. GET OUTSIDE

The warm sun and fresh air can really do you some good. Especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. Try it for yourself and see if it helps you to calm down and relax. You could go for a walk, take a hike through local wooded trails, sit on your front porch swing, throw a ball with your dog, or even lay down a blanket and look up at the clouds.

You’ll never know until you try!

4. LISTEN TO MUSIC

Did you know that listening to music can be quite effective in helping you reduce stress? Regardless if you crank up the tunes and clean your house or go for a drive, or if you’re leaning towards a relaxing playlist while you take a bath or lay down on the couch, music can really help lighten your mood.

Popular music-streaming Apps such as Google Play, Apple Music, and Spotify offer customized playlists that are geared toward relieving stress and reducing anxiety. There are even Apps available that are geared towards relaxation and anxiety relief, such as Calm, Pacifica and Headspace.

5. EXERCISE

Exercise is a popular tactic used to help reduce stress. It can help you work out your frustrations physically, take your mind off of what’s stressing you out, and even help you feel more confident in yourself.

Here are some of our favorite stress-relieving exercises:
