How Long Can I Stay In a Hot Tub For?

Hot tubs can be found in many homes and backyards around the world, and in your own neighborhood.

If you are considering investing in a spa, you probably have a few questions regarding their usage. New and used hot tubs offer a variety of health benefits.

Included in these are rejuvenating your energy and mood, loosening tense muscles, and easing the pain on sore joints.

Listen to Your Body

When you first start to enjoy your hot tub, you may only be able to stay immersed in it for a few minutes. This is completely normal, and you will still reap the health benefits. In time, and with more regular usage of your hot tub, your tolerance will increase.

This leads to longer, more relaxing soaks, and improved health. There are several factors that will contribute to how much time you should stay in a tub.

Hot Tub Time Factors

Water temperature, age, and overall health all play a part in the amount of time you should stay in a hot tub. Keep in mind that heat, even that from a hot tub can play a part in dehydration and listen to your body. Be mindful to keep water handy and be sure to encourage your guests to do the same.

If you feel lightheaded or dizzy while enjoying the hot tub, it may be best to take a short break and allow your body temperature to return to normal.

If you suffer from any chronic medical conditions, it may be best to seek the advice of your doctor, before enjoying a hot tub. Children and pregnant women should be encouraged to enjoy shorter soaks.

Children also do best when not fully emerged in the water, and soaking at a lower temperature and for a shorter amount of time. We suggest letting your child soak for 10-15 minutes at a time and at a temperature of 98°F.

Encourage all your guests to alternate seating in the tub, to decrease the speed at which their body temperature rises. This will allow you and your guests to enjoy the hot tub for longer periods of time, without worry.

On the whole, hot tubs are a very safe and effective way of relieving stress, relaxing tight muscles and encouraging connection within the whole family.

If you are looking to increase your energy levels, push your boundaries at the gym, or even to improve your anxiety a hot tub may be the best bet for you!
